Setup for Blender 5.0+
Whippet uses the default Storyboarding Workspace with Blender 5.0. Ensure there is a ‘Storyboarding’ workspace and a ‘Video Editing’ workspace. You can have any other tabs you like but you need these two to ensure all functions work properly.
- To setup the Storyboarding Workspace, simply go to File > New > Storyboarding or when you launch Blender, you can select Storyboarding from the startup prompt. Do not change the names of these workspaces, doing so will break some Whippet operators.
- Ensure your Edit Scene is pinned to the Video Editing Workspace. This keep the Edit scene on the workspace when you switch to it.

Whippet Panel Locations
Whippet contains menus in a few places to help you access tools on the fly. Click on the different tabs below to see where you can access Whippet tools.
Storyboarding Workspace
The Storyboarding Workspace has a few locations where Whippet panels are accessible. Inside the 3D Viewport N-panel, the Dopesheet N-Panel and a Custom Collection system to help keep things organized. The Dopesheet and the Sequencer header also comes with custom buttons and the basic Timeline button to help eliminate the need for the Timeline or Dopesheet footer.
The Dopesheet N-panel menu has quick access to the Camera List and Whippet GP Keyframe Tools.

Video Editing Workspace
Along with the Sequencer Header Buttons, there is an N-Panel menu in the Video Sequencer (Preview and Sequencer) that contain VSE tools and export features. Inside the Video Editing workspace, press ‘N’ to open the panel.

Grease Pencil Pop-up
While in Draw mode with Grease Pencil, you can access all the Grease Pencil and Whippet related tools on the fly. Press Right+Click on your tablet pen (if you’ve installed the Maurits Valk Keymap) to open up the custom Whippet pop-up menu. Here you’ll have access to all the Grease Pencil layer and material settings along with brush, overlay and keyframe timing settings.
